Cultural Center Offers a FREE "Phantom" Performance and
Pre-Concert Event for Children
JOSHUA TREE, CA - As part of its continuing commitment to bringing excellence in arts education to the children of the Morongo Basin, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center is pleased to offer free seating for children ages 12 and under to this Saturday's special children's performance of music from Phantom of the Opera by the Joshua Tree Philharmonic. This special matinee performance also includes an interactive and fun pre-concert event, "An Introduction to the Instruments of the Orchestra" that is geared for younger children. The pre-concert event begins this Saturday, June 2nd at 1:30 pm and the matinee concert begins at 2:00 pm in the Blak Box Theater.
Unlike the other concert performances of this two-week engagement, where children must be age 5 or over to attend, this specially-geared, one-afternoon-only concert is open to children of all ages. All children must be accompanied by a ticketed responsible adult, and the Cultural Center recommends no more than 3 children per adult. Reservations are highly recommended since seating is limited.
Other performances of this wonderful concert experience run Friday and Saturday evenings (June 1, 2, 8, and 9) at 7:00 pm, Saturday June 8 at 2:00 pm, and Sunday afternoons (June 3 and 10) at 2:00 pm. Under the direction of Maestro Jarrod Radnich, the Philharmonic will perform timeless selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical including Think of Me, Angel of Music, The Phantom of the Opera, The Music of the Night, and more, with a special surprise grand finale that includes the entire audience.
General tickets are on sale now and can be reserved by going to www.hidesertculturalcenter.com, or by calling the Box Office at 760.366.3777. A portion of the ticket proceeds go toward the Hi-Desert Cultural Center's "Desert Music Foundation" music scholarship fund, which provides financial assistance for JPHIL and String Conservatory participants and funds scholarships for the annual Scholarship Concerts & Recitals program held every January. The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The state-of-the-art fully air conditioned Blak Box Theater is located at 61231 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree, directly behind the Kaye Ballard Theater.
