“Swift Fox” Taps Talent for Epic Production
FINAL CAST OF OVER 50 ARTISTS TO PORTRAY THE “DEFINITIVE” WILLIE BOY STORY
JOSHUA TREE, CA – As the 100th anniversary of the historic Willie Boy incident approaches, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center is deep into production of its upcoming multi-media theatrical event: “Swift Fox - The UNTOLD Stories of Willie Boy.”
“Swift Fox,” Willie Boy’s given Native American name, goes far beyond what is normally portrayed in the recounting of this national story by further exploring the relative relationships between teen love, clashing cultures and the exploits of “yellow journalism.”
This production will feature a large cast of professional actors, business leaders, Copper Mountain College students, and even a former Sheriff playing the Sheriff. The cast includes: Sue Kelly, Veronica Palacios, Steven Hernandez, Fabianna Borghese, Alex Gomez, Suzzann Macleod, Leisa Von Volz, Paul Morehead, Abe Daniels, Kurt Schauppner, Ron Cameron, Ron McMahon, Manuel Rincon, Jacob Fesili, Elwood Amos, Ben Sasnett, Scot McKone, Brad Holt, Wendy Powell, and Derrick Bennett.
Reaching beyond the theatrical arts, the Cultural Center commissioned Shirley James to create an original oil painting of Willie Boy and Carlotta, Willie Boy’s love interest and/or murder victim, depending upon which story you believe. The original oil painting will be used in all promotion of the production and will be available in a special auction. In James’ research, she based the likenesses in her painting upon actual photographs of Willie Boy, and the only known photograph of Carlotta, and placed them in a traditional, period pose with proper attire.
All this effort is in preparation for the September 18th opening and premier of “Swift Fox - The UNTOLD Stories of Willie Boy” at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s unique Blak Box Theatre. This original play was written by New York Drama Desk Winner and Playwright In Residence Ron House. The presentation will feature 7.1 cinematic surround sound, computerized lighting, video, special effects and original music by Jarrod Radnich, Craig Knudsen, Joseph Dilling and Rachel Shimko.
“Almost 100 people experienced the professional reading of ‘Swift Fox’ in preparation for this event in June.” The general consensus of the VIP audience in the audience felt that this production could be the definitive Willie Boy story for years to come,” stated HDCC Vice President Craig Knudsen.
