Blak Box Travels 200 Years Back In Time Nov. 6!
World-class Pianist Kanae Matsumoto will perform a special concert celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Schumann
JOSHUA TREE, CA – In today’s world, we play radios, CD’s and iPODS, but if you wanted music 200 years ago, you had to play a musical instrument and depend on great composers to inspire your efforts! Now, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center in Joshua Tree has a rare treat in store for music lovers to travel back in time in celebration of Robert Schumann’s 200 Anniversary, Friday, November 6th at 8:00pm. This special event is brought to life by the remarkable talent of UCLA’s Dr. Kanae Matsumoto, interpretive pianist, and international performer, with credits performing for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Disney Concert Hall, as well as, with Canada’s Toronto Philharmonic.
Schumann’s legacy touts him as one of the most famous and important music composers for Romantic music of the 19th Century; boasting countless works that included piano and orchestra, piano and voice, Opera, Chorale, Chamber music and four symphonies. Dr. Matsumoto is touted for “her unfailingly crisp, warm and sensitive playing” along with her ability to “dazzle in the technically (and “hell bent”) demanding parts of the complex music.”
With Johannes Brahms as Robert Schumann’s protégé, it is no wonder Schumann’s music has endured the centuries! Don’t miss this magical engagement of historic proportions. General seating tickets are only $15.00, but tickets are limited.
