"It was a fabulous Hi-Desert Romp, featuring such talented
storytellers, we had so much fun!"

JOSHUA TREE, CA - Back by overwhelming demand from last year’s sold-out performance, Desert Stories returns to the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theatre Saturday January 23, 2010 at 7pm. Featuring new eclectic artists, Desert Stories III is a benefit fundraiser to help rebuild the historic and newly named Kaye Ballard Playhouse.

“Spoken Word” is a popular form of literary art or artistic performance in which lyrics, poetry, or stories are spoken and may include singing and multi-media visual effects. Come hear more true-life experiences and a few tall tales from some of the Desert’s best storytellers along with some special guests. This year’s event will feature celebrated artists Nigel Daly, Louise Salter, Travis Cline, Pat Flanagan, Bob Forrest, Neysa Griffith, Josh Kun, Christopher Lawrence, Curt Mathies, Kathleen Radnich, Kim Stringfellow, and Constance Walsh among others.

“Desert Stories II proved that there is no shortage in tales to tell,” stated Cheryl Montelle, event coordinator. “Once again, desert stories were shared in creative and unique ways - another magical event in this wonderful community!”

Desert Stories III will begin with a pre-show cocktail party at 7pm with performances beginning at 7:30pm Saturday January 23, 2010 at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s new state-of-the-art Blak Box Theatre. Tickets are $20, suggested donation. Light complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a no-host cash bar will be available. For more information and/or tickets, call the box office at 760.366.3777 to talk to a “real” person or visit www.hidesertculturalcenter.com using the new, easy to use Vendini ticketing system.
